Why We Ride – The Founder’s Story
Share
Hey there, fellow cycling enthusiasts!
Let’s take a ride down memory lane to where it all began for Cycle Swagger.
Picture this: a guy stuck in office cubicles handling IT tickets, then suddenly cutting through city traffic on a fixed gear, living by the clock, the streets, and pure adrenaline. That was my reality—and my transformation.
Cycle Swagger wasn’t born in a design studio or a boardroom. It was built on cracked pavement, rainy days, aching legs, and that powerful feeling of freedom on two wheels. This brand is a personal mission—blending culture, grit, and sustainability for the modern urban cyclist. Want to see what my messenger days look like? Check out my Instagram page: View My Journey
From Desktop Support to City Streets
Before all this, I worked in IT—Desktop Support, Helpdesk, Hardware Tech roles. I fixed computers, replaced parts, answered calls, and helped people solve tech issues. I was good at it, but every day felt… hollow. The repetition, the lack of movement, the disconnect from the outside world—it wore me down.
So, I started looking for something different. Something real. I picked up walking deliveries part-time, just to shake off the sedentary life. That evolved into riding. And before I knew it, I was clocking miles across the city as a full-time bike courier.
Leaving the Tech Life Behind
I briefly returned to IT once—for a week. That one week felt like prison. I couldn’t do it. The chair, the fluorescent lights, the endless tickets. I left it behind, for good this time, and never looked back.
Instead, I leaned hard into cycling. It gave me everything tech couldn’t: adrenaline, fresh air, challenge, and connection. I was alive again—dodging traffic, racing time, embracing the unknown.
The city became my office. My wheels became my purpose.
The Messenger Grind and What It Taught Me
Becoming a courier wasn’t glamorous. It was trial by fire.
I learned quickly how to navigate chaos: angry drivers, unpredictable weather, sketchy neighborhoods. Every day was different. Every delivery was a test.
But the toughest days taught me the most.
One of those days changed everything. I suffered a serious spinal fracture during my time as a bike courier. It could have ended everything—my career, my lifestyle, even my ability to ride. The recovery was long, painful, and humbling. I had to rebuild not just my body, but my spirit.
That experience grounded me. It reminded me how much I love this lifestyle—and how much I belong in it. I came back stronger, more focused, and with an even deeper respect for what it means to ride.
Cycling isn’t just transport—it’s resilience. And so is this brand.
Where’s the Style for Cyclists Like Us?
This realization hit me one day mid-ride: there’s no real streetwear for cyclists.
Sure, there’s performance gear—spandex, neon jackets, rainproof gear built for sport. But what about the urban cyclist who wants to look good while they ride?
Where was the stylish apparel for commuters, bike messengers, and enthusiasts who see cycling not just as a commute—but a lifestyle?
Brands like Supreme crushed it for the skateboarding world. Tuned in Tokyo captured the sports car niche. But for cyclists—urban riders, rebels, creatives, the diverse riders who make up city cycling culture—there was nothing.
That’s when I knew. This was the gap I was meant to fill.
Birth of Cycle Swagger
Cycle Swagger is for the street-savvy cyclist.
It’s not just about riding—it’s about how you ride, what you wear, and what you stand for. We’re building a brand that speaks to the heart of the urban rider: those who hustle, those who explore, those who live on two wheels.
It’s about elevating urban cycling with luxury-style apparel that’s as bold as the people who wear it.
And yeah, our gear is made with organic and eco-friendly materials. Because we’re not just riding through the city—we’re protecting it too.
More Than Gear—A Movement
Our brand is fueled by two core values:
-
Freedom – To move, to express, to live on your own terms.
-
Resilience – To face the ride, rain or shine, and keep going.
But it’s not just about clothing. It’s about representing a culture that’s been overlooked.
We’re creating a lifestyle brand that reflects the soul of urban cycling. From the fixed-gear messengers to the e-bike commuters, from weekend riders to those putting in 60-mile days—we see you. And we’re designing for you.
